woodsracerFavorite ACCURACY loads for RSM in .416, anyone?
Just curious, what your favorite loads are.
Btw, shot my new RSM Rigby today (for the first time) loaded with 350gr. Speers behind 108grs. of RL-22.......killed 7 outta 7 buffs!!!

They just weren't charging me.
Seriously, I did four carefully aimed shots from a sitting position (I was in the woods) at an 8" cardboard square @ 50 yards to figure out the certain sight picture for my rifle (the Ruger manual notes to hold the "bull" at the top of the bead for the RSM; but I found out different

).
Then I did THREE VERY RAPIDLY FIRED SHOTS STANDING (at around 35 yards as fast as I could, recovering after each round!!!

) into a knothole of a "marked" tree.........and the three shots were in a group slightly bigger than three inches!!!

They weren't in a nice cluster like I am used to when I benchrest shoot. But it was only 1" right to the knothole, and the three shots were in a vertical string covering at most three inches.

Anyway, in a non-stressed environment, I can hit Minute-of-Cape-Buffalo.

Can't wait to get to the "real" range!!!

.....haven`t heard of Rigbys RSM model before
is that a new model they have come out with?
Anyway...an accurate load for a .416 Rigby:
95 grain of N160
any 400 grain bullet round nose
Fed 215
COL 3.75"
Norma brass
Shots very accurate in mine all day long

SBT, two things: One: GREAT shooting!!! .....and TWO: I am sure glad you posted your link!!! I have a B-E-A-U-T-I-F-U-L stock on my RSM, and after seeing what happened to yours, I AM going to have it bedded.......I don't think I'll even shoot it again until I have it done!!!

Thanks for your info! It has been most helpful.
OK, fellas, WHO is the BEST big bore smith to send a RSM in need of steel bedding to?!?

jstevensMy Ruger works best with an old classic load, H4831 and a 400 Nosler. 104 grains will go a bit over 2500 fps. I recently loaded some with Northfork 370 soft points and flat nosed solids, but haven't shot them yet.

Please realize that I am not bragging, but mine is of the finest grains that I have even seen, and rivals many of Europe's finest. I guess I got lucky!!!
