375 H&H model 70 finished
All done finally. Weighs 8-12 with 5 rounds and a nylon sling. The stock is finished with repeated soakings of S1 epoxy sealer and a final coat of tru-oil. That is Ahlmans $50 checkering job. Good enough work but they put the forearm panel too far back. The fixed NECG rear sight is a little clunky to the eye but it is now set for 1/2" high at 50 with a 300 partition and should stay there. That is Gun-Kote on all metal, it looks good but I'll reserve judgement on its durability.

Wink
Tell me about the sights. Did you fit the rear sight into the original dovetail or is it a new rear sight set-up (soldered?) onto the barrel. I tend to like the U - Front post type of system as I shoot faster with it. Good choice.

Very nice but I don't know if them old actions are safe anymore, especially the long ones. I think you should sell me the other one, don't want to take too many chances now.

thanks for the kind comments.

I forgot give credit and thanks to Bill Leeper for the metalwork, Barry Jensen for the Gun-kote, and Carol at Ahlmans for the checkering. Thanks also to the members here and at 24hour for posting their projects, ideas, and opinions.

Wink, that is the NECG/Recknagel basic rear ramp screwed and soldered to the barrel, with a plain standing ramp and a 0.125" square notch milled in. With the front Patridge sight it gives a great sight picture, like a set of Bomars on a 1911. Adjustments are file and hammer only, but since it is essentially a one bullet gun for me (300 partition), that's ok. After i've shot it a bit more I plan to install a small set screw to addtitionally hold things in place.
