Just curious that looking at loads for these two with 350 and 400 grain bullets the max loads are very close to the same. has anyone found this to be true.

Do you mean powder charges or velocities?

It appears that the Ruger uses about 2% or 1.7 grains less powder, otherthings being equal.

I just bought a used 416 Ruger Alaskan. I want to use 350 grain bullet for bear hunting, but haven't found much in the way of loading data.

Anyone have a good 350 grain load?

Thanks,
Phil

Start at 76 grains of RL-15 and work up to about 83 grains max, using magnum primers

My Rifles, Inc. 416 Rem. shoots 400gr. North Forks, GS Customs, and Swifts consistently under MOA with a load of 82.0 gr Reloader 15.This is the load I killed my 55# bull with.I used 85.0 gr Reloader 15 with the North Fork 370gr. bullet on my Brown Bear 2 years ago.
The 416 Rem. is almost a straight walled case and handles pressures well.

Bwana dogo, I use BL-C(2) at 84 gr under the Speer 350 Hot-Cor in my Remy for 2620 fps and .85-.95 inch 3 shot cloverleafs at 100 yards, consistently. Killed a nice bison a couple years ago with a neck shot . . . dropped instantly. Here's the rifle:
