<Win94>Can i fire a bullet through my .410 single??
I have always wondered if there is a bullet or caliber that i could safely fire in my smooth bore .410 single shot. I have never had the balls to ask anyone face to face so here goes!!??? I am sure accuracy would be very marginal??

410 means 410, each gun is constucted to handle the specific cartridge/shell and the associated pressure that they are designed. You do not want to fire a higher pressure cartridge in a low pressure designed gun...common sense I hope.
Although NEF made a .410 that could shoot 45colt. Called the survivor. But don't do it unless the gun is marked for it.

<Win94>Raamw, what if their is a cartridge out their with lower pressures?? I handload so matching .410 pressures is not rocket science. I had heard about the NEF gun thats why i asked the question.

Mickey1This may have been dangerous but my Grandfather shot 45 LC out of a Stevens Single shot 410 for years. At least 20. He used it mostly for Coyotes and Salmon. He said the .410 wasn't any good and I doubt if he fired more than a couple of boxes of shotgun shells through it.
I have the gun now and I have used it alot for Grouse and such on the road.

ready_on_the_rightT/C Contenders have their .410/.45 Colt barrels available...But I don't think I would do it in a shotgun.

HunterJimMark,
You should be able to find some .410 shotshells loaded with slugs. They are "bullets" that are safe to fire in your shotgun.
