.95 JDJ-Any info?
Anyone have any info on this round? Looks, umm, "big"...

All SSK says is this:
"
Our biggest bolt gun fires a 3600 grain 95 caliber bullet from a highly modified 20 mm vulcan case. We also work on Strikers and other bolt action pistols and rifles.
"

And a pic:

Looks about as long as the .577 NE-just a heck of alot fatter!
Even if that things doing 1200fps, thats a TKO over 586 (!)..

It's big...I want one [Smile]

I talked to JD about this round three years ago.....not sure that he's still offering this wildcat. The original rifle weighed over 100 pounds and produced in excess of 30,000 foot pounds of muzzle energy. Roughly twice that of a .50 BMG.

I've shot it (it weighed 48lbs.; 24lbs for the rifle, and 24lbs. more for the muzzle brake), and it was a lot of fun breaking up boulders. It is loud, though. [Eek!] [Eek!] [Eek!] [Big Grin]

George......did he make two of these? I could've swore that he said one weighed 100 pounds (maybe he meant that it ideally should weight 100 pounds).

Thanks,

Whoa! Sounds cool! Anyone know the muzzle velocity of that beast?

Lee,

He might have. The one I fired was built on a McBros .50BMG action, with a 36" HEAVY barrel.

It had a 'little' brother, in .75 caliber!

Glock20rocks,

I don't remember the velocity definitively, but it seems like it was either 1800fps or 2300fps.

1800fps=25912 ft-lbs of energy,TKO=879
2300fps=42307 ft-lbs of energy,TKO=1123 (!)...

1800-2000fps seems reasonable...

Now THAT is a gun!!

I want one...
