Need new address of OLD Western Scrounger
The Old Western Scrounger retired, and sold his business to someone back east. Does anyone have contact information. That store used to carry RWS Berdan Primers (and I need some of those).

Thanks in advance.

I just typed in old western scrounger and it gave a website. Maybe that's all you need.

Graf's has russian primers, if you don't need RWS: http://www.grafs.com/retail/ca...duct/productId/23431

Thanks Gents,

I will give them a look see.

376 Steyer,
Good choice of calibers. I need to rig up new sites on my standard Steyr rifle. Without the scope I cannot scrunch my face down hard enough to use the irons. Probably shoulds, outa bought the "Dragoon" version of the scout rifle. Live and learn. Of course I need a scope these days so my carping is senseless.

Delloro,
I could be way off base (one of my favorite places), but I believe the Soviet primers are mild mannered Boxer style units. The long range shooters favor them for their soft and consistent ignition - Just like Soviet foreign policy - not.

Surestrike,
Between bouts with the retrovirus, I am slowly but surely depriming, washing, resizing, trimming, repriming and polishing every piece of brass I have. Kind of like Sisyphus pushing the boulder up the mountain every day just to get one's liver eaten. If I can get some Berdan primers I can send you some once reloaded Kynoch to use for practice. One of those "just for the hell of it deals". Life has been good, and surely beats a dirt nap.

L/D

delloro,

I owe you an apology. Those are Berdan primers. Unfortunately they are .217" in diameter, and I need the .254" diameter size.

If anyone knows a source for those elusive .254" Berdan Primers, I would be grateful if you would share it with me.

Thanks again.

OWS ain't what it used to be...

no apology necessary, and yes, they are not .254. I will see if I can find some.

what are you reloading that needs those .254s?

Dangerous Dave sold OWS to Val Forgett [Navy Arms] some time back [Edit: 2005 according to the website], and they dropped the RWS agency around that time, if not earlier.

For 0.254" Berdan primers, you'll have to find someone that has a private stash of them. Might be worth asking on the castboolits forums.

RWS discontinued this size [both #6504 and #6507] around 6 years ago - our Oz RWS distributor sold out of these in 2008, and couldn't get any new stock.

Type 6507 is correct for large Kynoch NE cases, IIRC - http://www.dave-cushman.net/sh...lies_dimensions.html

I have a big pile of 470, 500/465, 450, 375 Flanged, and 450/400 3&1/4"

All from Kynoch, and all Berdan Primed.

I will have to use the old Kynoch primers that I picked up along the way.

I will also have to make some hydraulic deprimers. I just mangle cases with the RCBS tool. Maybe a new/sharp tip would help there
