"Impi" Stock for .395 Tatanka M76 "African" Dakota
I shot it some and it worked fine on the .395 Tatanka, the "Forty Ought Seven."
Hunted twice with it, been blooded on a buck and a doe.
Also, it's the champion of Iron WaterBoard Buffalo penetration, thus far.

The crude MPI blank has been "IMPROVED" by a 1" thick oak block hidden in the foam of the butt for pad attachment,
with proper pitch and 14.5" LOP.
It fits me nicely.
It had stainless steel pillars and crossbolts hidden fore and aft of the magazine well.
Sling studs attached with nuts buried in the epoxy.
Asymmetry of the forearm was improved to almost symmetric,
at least the barrel channel is straight and true after full length glass bedding!
The forearm is a little thinner on the left side and fits my thenar eminence/palm grip,
with the slight fullness of the right side making it feel custom-contoured for my gripping hand.
Points like a magic wand! Smiler

It is now a one-of-a-kind stock, worth much more than an MPI blank.
Such a reworked MPI should be called an "IMPI" stock: Improved MPI

Whenever the temperature and humidity are right, outdoors,
I am going to paint it with Rust-Oleum "Hammered" brown paint:
"UNIQUE HAMMERED FINISH"
"HIDES SURFACE IMPERFECTIONS NO PRIMER NEEDED"

My "fine" IMPI stock has cured for two years now and is ready for the final sanding and finish: diggin

Nice job, RIP. Except that tit on the forend reminds me of a girl I knew. BTW, Hammered paint is great as long as you don't paint hammered beer.

"Experience" is the only class you take where the exam comes before the lesson.

tiggertate,
I had not thought of the tit resemblance. I like it even better now! SCHWING!!!

And if I do paint hammered, I can sand it down and try again when sober.
Eventually all the pits and sags will get hammered out.
Pits and sags and one tit ... reminds me of a girl I used to go with ... beer

Dang, she still has pits and sags!
Straightening out a warped MPI forend by adding epoxy and paint ain't easy. Wink
I will have to sand and paint again.
I still like her tit. Big Grin

I took my last kevlar stock to the body shop after screwing with it for a long time. They put one of their guys on it and it came back filled, sanded, primed, painted twice and baked ... Big Grin

I'll just get another couple of cans of paint.
Sniffing paint ... gets me hammered. Wink
I am onto something now:
The Rustoleum gritty-texture paint with Rustoleum "Hammered" paint over the top of that ...
I just need to sand off enough of the old paint so it is not too heavy when finished. Wink
Third time should be a charm. dancing

.395 Tatanka Impi.

A "Buffalo Soldier" of sorts.
