300gr Fmj-RN ?
I was wanting to load up some 300gr. loads for my 375H&H. I was going to use Hornady's and see they have Fmj-RN available. Can someone tell me what application you would use these for. I know many states do not allow fmj rounds for hunting. Would this be considered a solid over in Africa? Thanks.

The Hornady FMJ round nose is considered a solid in African parlance, and are designed for the maximum penetration on the largest, toughest game in the world, such as elephant, rhino, hippo, and Cape Buffalo. As you stated, they are not legal for use on game in many parts of the U.S.A. If you want a 300 grain round nose for hunting in the U.S.A., either the Hornady or the Woodleigh round nose soft points will serve you well. If you just want a 300 grain bullet, I have had great luck with Swift A-frames in premium bullets, and the Hornady 300 grain spire point should work well in a conventional bullet. Others on this forum report good luck with Nosler Partitions and Barnes-X
