i have a chance to buy a savage model 116 safari express in .458 win mag.anyone familiar with this rifle ? how about rechambering in .458 lott? opinions appreciated. thanks, steve

The magazine may not be long enough to hold the Lott rounds.

wish I could give you some info as I have the same gun and want to do the same--I've emailed some smiths(no answers yet) and talked to others and the only definitive answer came from RGB who said also that the mag may need work, but he wasn't sure the stock could handle the extra power and unless he saw the gun(action) he wasn't sure it was a good idea to go reaming it out, he said save yourself the trouble and buy a CZ 416 Rigby or CZ 458 and play with it---yes it's CRF and is the most expensive gun Savage makes, but people seem to run when you mention Savage and customizing in the same breath--most likely you would have to buy the reamer yourself-you could rent, but used/rental reamers are chancey at best IMO---if you do find out something contrary please let me know--chris
