dgr416I need a fiberglass stock for my 416 rem mag m70
Who makes a good Fiberglass stock for the model 70 in 416 rem mag.I swear i have a bunch of Remongton 700s in 416 rem mag and they kick way less than the model 70 and it weighs 2 more pounds.I have the hs stock on two of my model 700 and a kevelar one on my stainless model 700 remington.I like the hs stock but the kevelar one on the stainless model 700 is the best one.I hate the shape cheekpeace on my model 70 Winchester.Who makes a good big bore stock thats tough as nails?

22WRFI have never owned one, but a lot of folks here on AR have had very high praise for the McMillan stock that D'Arcy Echols designed and sells. He calls it the Legend Stock. It is designed to handle the recoil put out by big bore rifles. You might call him and inquire.
Here are some photos of one. click on them to enlarge.

eezridrYou might try Mcmillans drop box safari stock for the Mod 70 / 416 however you will have to buy Sunnyhill bottom metal to finish the product. You will have a nice gun with 4 down capacity.
This is going to cost about $900.00 for the stock and bottom metal.

Rick RI just ordered a McMillan version of the Winchester Supergrade for my Montana 1999 action in .416 Rem Mag. Hopefully in 12 - 14 weeks I'll have an answer, or at least find out how well a decelerator pad works.

We have several rifles in fiberglass stocks all done by Doc at
www.mpistocks.com They include :416 Rigby, two .375 Sako's, one Mod. 70in .375 two 45/70's and several 6mm to .30 cals. All of these are done by MPI. I stopped waisting our money years ago with the drop in type as MPI saved me time and money in the long run.
One of the Sakos is a carbine in .375 H&H and the thing is very light and recoil is not excessive. It is all about the proper measurement to the shooters body and drop. Also fiberglass has properties that are (IMO) superior to kevlar.
Cheap may not equal value.

buffaloWhat about the Bell & Carlson Medalist stock. Probably one of the most sturdy with the alu-bedding block. Ask RIP - he has experience with them.. - and he praises them above anything else..
