jro45The 458 Lott shooting 550 bullets
I loaded up four 550 bullets and fired them thru my conagraph. They did 2210 FPS without expanding the primer hole. My Lott has a 26" barrel. It is the American Safari CZ 550 model.
I thought that was pretty good for such a heavy bullet out of my 458 Lott. What do you think?

ozhunter2210 fps with 550grn bullets with out pressure sounds great.
I would be happy with 2150fps with that setup.
How was the recoil and extraction?

WillThe equivalent muzzle energy of a 500 gr. bullet at 2300 fps with a 550 gr. bullet is 2200 fps. You are doing great.

JKSjro45,
How many grains of 4320 are your loads with the 550gr bullet and do you use a long drop tube? My 4320 Hornady 500 gr loads are compressed and you are doing great to get 2200 with a 550gr bullet!
John
There are those that do, those that dream, and those that only read about it and then post their "expertise" on AR!

WillThe volume taken up by the extra 50 gr is less than the decrease in powder volume!
