Re: Name for .460 weatherby necked to .470 cal ?
Dave,
That is exactly what I'm expecting. It is also what Quick Load shows. The 470 Mbogo is such a great idea. A simple conversion using a CZ action with the 416 Rigby bolt face. A VERY little bit of rail and ramp work (if I wasn't set on shooting my FN solids with the wide metplat I doubt any rail work would have been needed). The usual alteration done to a CZ and its done (trigger, safety new stock etc). 2400 with ease and higher if you dare (I will).

The whole reason behind the 475 A&M was a switch barrel gun I'm building. It started out as a simple 550 Mag project and has grown into a 10 barrel beast with 3 stocks. I'm hitting all of the usual calibers between 7mm (I know, way overbore) and 550. A 475 caliber chambering seemed logical.

John

BTW-I'll be starting the loading for the 475A&M at the max load listed in the reloading manuals for the 460 WBY. With a quick double check in quick load of course.

For the 470 Mbogo Dave has extensive reloading information on his website for those interested.

No experience yet but I am building one. The reamer just came in from Manson reamers and I got the Pac-nor barrel a couple of weeks ago. Now all I'm waiting on is the GMA action I ordered. It should be some time this month.

You can get a bit of information from Cartridges of the world. It's got plenty of power and there is a good supply of reloading components.

It really is a belted 470 Mbogo. I've got a 470 Mbogo almost ready for the stock and it will be interesting to do a side-by-side comparison of the two.

Hi.
I have had great fun with my 475 A&M for 8 years now. Pac nor barrel and cz 602 action. Outstanding accuracy as long as i do my job. Please disregard most loadingdata mentioned in cartridges of the world, use load data for 460wby. My oppinion.

470 Mbogo
Hi John,
I think you'll find the 470 Mbogo will have a larger powder capacity so should do anything the necked up Weatherby will do with less pressure.
Take care,
Dave

PC, the 475 A&M was the original wildcat of this calibre.
Ackley's loads for this calibre (also mentioned in catridges of the world) are famously known as being doubtful, since he estimated velocities with 500gn almost as high as 3000fps.
As mentioned above it should be similar to 460wby or a little higher/ 2650-2700fps with 500gn.

Karl.
