azboy404 jeffery from a sako 7 mm stw?
Is this possible ? I bought the 7 mm stw on gunboker because it was a good deal ( 2 yrs ago). After lurking on this forum I got intersted in larger bore rifles, and started shooting and hunting. I never shot a gun before the age of 50. I bought so many guns I had to rent a storage locker. Anyway, a bear hunt on the peninsula is upcoming and perhaps a 404 would be a descent choice. Comments on the possible conversion?

interboatThat cartridge/rifle combination is entirely inappropriate.

vapodogYou'd have a better chance of turning it into a 416 Rem Mag.....

lawndartAs the above posters have mentioned, 404 would be a tough one. The 416 Rem Mag conversion would only require a new barrel. It would work very well. It would be an awesome choice. I am cnverting a 7mm STW into a 416 later this year. I am using a Winchester for that, but the Sako would do fine. I do already have a 416 Rem Mag in a Sako AV. It is a sweet shooter indeed. Good luck.
Welcome to the boards. We are the kids your mom warned you about.

Well I have a Sako 75 in .300 Ultra mag which is built on a .404 jeffery. So I would imagine it is possible.
