AtkinsonFrank,
That is an old M-7, I would try to find a M8 if it were me..I have a number of 3X M8 Leupolds and its still one of my all time favorite DGR scopes on 416, 404 and lesser calibers...

Does the 3x have a longer tube or more eye relief than the 1.5x5 Leupold?
I won't tell you what I want to mount it on as I wouldn't want to ruin your dinner or give you heartburn.

The 3x has a 3.8" eye relief, which is about the same as the 1.5-5x set at 3x.
The 3x is about 10" long, the 1.5-5x is about 9" in length.
This is the new 2.5x Ultralight (6 oz) next to a .404 Jeff cartridge. The scope is 8" long with a 5" eye relief. This particular one has a post & crosshair reticle from Premier.

Mickey1That sounds like what I'm looking for. I need about another inch of either eye relief or scope adjustment.
Your pic didn't come up put I know what to look for now.

AtkinsonMickey,
The 3X is 10 inches long, the 1.5x5 is 9.5 and the 1x4 is 9"s....
The 3X is the perfect length for todays rifles and mounts, it keeps the rings off the front glass...
But it won't work on double rifles, gag, choke, toss,
