BNagelZKK 602 .375 WeM overhaul near College Station
Fellas
I may be interested in having my Brno reworked for future DG use. It has the original stock, bedded by yours truly. The rifle was reamed out from .375 H&H original chambering to .375 Weatherby Magnum prior to my purchase, and I have no idea if the barrel has lots of life remaining or no -- shoots well with reloads, and I've put a thousand or so of 'em through it.
Since I've added a CZ 550 Safari Magnum in .416 Rigby to the arsenal (and am learning to shoot it well) the Brno seems front heavy and generally a candidate for a good overhaul.
I envision shortening the barrel, restocking in a laminated or synthetic version similar to the current hogback but with a shorter fore-end.
Anyhow, does anyone in the north Houston area come to mind for the work? I'm looking at near future residence in College Station, Texas, and would like to be able to conferr with my 'smith.
Thanks
BNagel

Pete A.I recommend:
Bobby Pitchford
Pitchford Custom Gunworks
28703 Magerstadt Road
Waller, TX 77484
936 372-9017 tel
Bobby used to work with Briley in Houston and does lots of custom gun work. He does great work at a fair price.
Waller is just south of Hempstead on 290, just a 40 min ride from Bryan/CS. Take 6 South then 290 South and you are there.

Hog KillerBill Wiseman, lives in B/CS.
Tip Burns, over in Canyon Lake, would get my vote. Tip is a very nice guy and does great work too.

Met Bobby on the way through Waller County, and he has a good setup. Off Kickapoo Road, no less :-)
He's mystified at the word-of-mouth business that keeps coming in despite NO ADVERTISING. (Of course I mentioned AR and the Internet.) Nice guy, and I very much liked what I saw.
Bill Wiseman doesn't do much by way of walk-in trade, but his shop is still cranking out work for somebody. The nice lady at the desk gave me a price sheet anyhow, and we chatted a bit.
Thanks again, y'all. (More about shooting ranges at CS on my other thread.)

BNagelEd Lapour safety kit runs $268. Bobby advises the NECG front sight, to be installed after cutting bbl back to 23" and re-crowning. Think I'll opt for the (3-pos) safety first and wait on the CZ Express (McMillan) synthetic stock. After metal work including bluing, that's round one @ 400 to 500 bucks.

BNagelBobby Pitchford (Pitchford Gun Works
http://www.pcgguns.com/ just finished installing the Ed Lapour safety, re-crowning and installing NECG front sight, bluing, etc. after shortening the barrel by 2 inches for me.
Thanks for the recommend, Pete A.!
BTW he had to spend a whole day re-cutting (to fit) "everything" on the ZKK 602 for the safety. That added significantly to the over-all cost -- I asked him to include the time on his bill. Also, someone might want to know you lose the field-strip button for disassembly of the bolt so nifty on the original Brno version.

Pete A.Bobby has done some work for me and I've always been pleased. He takes time to listen to his customers.
He & his sons shoot in small bore silhouette at our local gun club. When I'm there with my 2 sons we have a tongue in cheek inter family match. Typically it is neither Bobby nor I who do the best shooting (we are both in what he calls "AA" purgatory). My oldest and his oldest are far better shooters than us. Typically one of them brings home the 'gold'.
Just bought a left handed CZ 452 for my youngest to compete with. Once he gets to AA level we're looking to get Bobby to put a "zoot" barrel and stock on it.
Like I said he does good work. For me that's the best reference.

+1 on Tip Burns, he does good work! Good honest man.

Masterifleman https://forums.accuratereloading.com/eve/forums/a/tpc/f/4711043/m/717104498Look at this and you'll see some of Tip Burns work on my 602

As soon as I have time to get down to his shop, I'm taking Tip my 602 for a little TLC. In my dealings, I have found Tip able, prompt, and reasonably priced.
