tankhunterP14 to 500 A Square advice
Picked up a good P14 which i want to convert to 500 A Square ,bought it from and interstate gun dealer, so i didnt know what exactly i would get, but its a good one, and iam pleased with it .
Wondered if anyone can give me some pointers or quick advice on this conversion ? what to be careful of ? its not going to be a custom gun just a nuts and bolts knock about rifle
Thankyou Gents in advance

RobgunbuilderIt's completely doable but a lot of work. If the barrel is still on, you'll enjoy the experience of getting it off!

last one I did was 10 years ago so I may have forgotten the finer details. What was once a common donor action now is just too costly to perform in my opinion. You need to Open the bolt face and make certain both locking lugs engage, mod extractor, completely new mag box, make a working follower, mill the bottom of action for new box and clearance, open rails, modify feed ramp. You will need to grind off the ears and D&T for scope mounts or open sights as well as install a cock on open kit for the bolt. It just keeps going! New barrel, front lug. You should consider trading the ol warhorse off and getting a CZ550 as a organ donor instead. The CZ.416 rigby to 500a2 is a piece of cake in comparison. Hope this is helpful.-Rob

tankhunterThanks Rob and Biebs ,Rob the ears have already been taken off and it has a bridge mount on it ,but i only want a Lyman peep sight on it ,its presently a 303/25 in a cut down military stock ,i was looking at Duane Wiebes website has the bottom metal for the Enfield ,so i thought that might be a better proposition than unknown $$ cost from a gunsmith to modify it ,i did have a CZZ 550 on a 500 A2 but sold it a few years ago ,i like the P14 action this one is very tight and slick compared to other actions
Cheers
