I'm looking into buying an Enfield P17 in 458 win mag, it is an Eddystone action; does anyone have a P17 in 458 or any other large caliber? What's your experience with it, if any? I can get the gun for around $300 cash (its part of a possible trade).

Hog Killer has a Remington Model 30 in .458 Lott and it is very nice. I have a P-17 coming from Tip Burns in .458 Lott. The P-17 and Remington Model 30's make a fine big bore.

i've seen eddystone rebarrel's sold in shops for $2-300.... otherwise, there's lots of variables... barrel brand, drilled and tapped for scope, trigger, military or aftermarket stock, whether or not the action will feed the larger .458 rounds.... if you get serious, take some loaded ammo and work them thru the action...in the last couple of months, ive picked up several eddystone actions, for less than $150....and tip burns is building me a .416 taylor on 1...

go big or go home ........
