elkjaeger.375 Super Express????
I did a search but still have questions.
I just purchased what was identified as a Winchester M70 .375 H&H Super Express Classic in Blue/Wood. Ser. # G151xxx. The configuration has me confused. The barrel does not have a swivel mounted on it like all the other SE's I've seen. It has the usual iron sights (plus a Gentry brake), but the only marking on it is the caliber designation and a Winchester proof mark. The stock has inletted sling "studs" and is marked Super Express on the two piece floor plate. Plain, round forend, Monte Carlo cheekpiece; stock appears unaltered.
This is a rifle for using, not collecting so I'm just curious here.
I'm hoping I have an early Classic made before Winchester started regularly cataloging.
What ya think????
Thanks
The Super Express should have a pedistal under the barrel for the front swivel. Never heard of a Special Express. My .416 says Super Express on floorplate.
