miklor458 & Burris scope
I was thinking of buying a Burris Euro Diamond
1.5-6x40mm (30mm Tube) Matte 3P#4 Illuminated for my 458 WM. Will it hold up to the recoil?

John FordI had a 1"- 4 x 16 x 44 Signiture Series on a lightweight (7.5lbs/scope) 300 WSM and it broke the reticle in about 200 shots. It was the BMD reticle. Burris is fixing it free of charge, but it makes me worry, when will it happen again. It may have been a freak happening as I have had no problems until then, always held zero and worked fine. Stuff happens. Good Luck.

PathfinderI used one last year in Zimbabwe on a leaopard/sable/plains game hunt mounted on a 338 Win mag. The scope was the euro diamond 3X9 with illuminated reticule. The problem I had was when I first tried it at the range the illumination dial broke. I didn't fire a shot. The Burris company fixed it N/C but I always felt that I should have been given a new scope. Other than that the scope has since worked fine.
A lot of guys prefer to buy a broken Leupold for cheap and get it fixed for free. The scope is then better than a new one, as it has been de-bugged. Hidden material defects slip through no matter how good the QA. A lifetime warranty recognizes this.
Burris is good. Leupold is better, IMHO.

miklorThanks, think I will stick with Leupold and Zeiss.
