ArthurOldsHow to prepare a 375 for trouble-free hunting?
Gentlemen: I have finally purchased a M70 classic in 375 H&H. I has a Win plastic stock from a stainless classic with limbsaver pad. Used but not abused. It is, however, VERY muzzle heavy and balances like holding a crowbar out. So two questions:
1. What must be done to prepare the rifle for hard but trouble-free use?
2. What would be nice to add to the above, should money be available?
Hunting shape first, nice later! Thanks for your opinions, here is your chance to do what you would like to do without spending any money!! Arthur

jimatcatmake it weigh 9 1/2 lbs.....add weight to butt, or chop barrel to get it....

Big Bore Boar Hunter9.5 lbs may be a bit much, but adding weight to the stock will help with the balance. You might be able to glass bed the front of the stock to give it a bit more stability.
If it feeds the rounds you are going to use, you are pretty much done.

Charles_HelmDoes it have functional sights? Are they securely attached?
Are you using a scope? Might take the holes for bases out to 8x40.
Check feeding, extraction, and ejection with a full magazine at speed.
Will it single-load properly?
Glass bedded?
Trigger good?

Tapper2Everything that Charles_Helm said, especially the scope mount holes out to 8-40. Most rifle problems while hunting revolve around the sights, optical or otherwise. A stock from Accurate Innovations or H-S Precision might help the fit for you. The best thing you can do is practice, practice, practice until you are comfortable with the gun.....Tom
