Dago RedEAA z98??
Hey guys, what's the story on the EAA or USSG Z98 rifles? I was talking to my stepfather today who called to tell me his brother called to tell him that he sees listed imported rifles in 375 or 458 win for 600 bucks. I did some surfing, I find this too.
they're showing with a black plastic stock. no open sights (in the picture).
does anybody know anything about them? quality? any reason the win can't be run out to Lott? are they standard length or magnum length etc?
are they just a pipe dream, or any really in country?

capowardDR,
These are manufactured by Zastava Arms. Zastava purchased the manufacturing equpiment that FN utilized to manufacture the FN M98 Supreme action. The Zastava manufactured M98 actions have been imported as Mark X, Charles Daly, and Remington M798.
USSG, Inc., which I believe is owned by EAA, is the actual importer conduit.
I checked with USSG earlier this year and was informed they had not received any of the .375 H&H or .458 WinMag rifles as yet but expected them later this year. They are a standard length action not the longer magnum length action.
The Remington M798s are being closed out by CDNN, here's the link to that discussion:

Dan416Peter, Zastava and others have put 375's on standard M98 actions but it requires a bit of shoe-horning. Sometimes the builder takes metal off the feedramp to fit the longer ctg. which is a bad idea because the feedramp is the back of the bottom bolt lug recess. I can't say if Zastavas 375's are good or bad but I am of the opinion that a 375 should go on a longer than standard action.

Peter,
Some will say that a magnum length action is required for a 3.6” length cartridge. That said, manufacturers have been building 375 H&H rifles using standard length M98 Mauser actions for almost 100years without issue. And the 375 H&H is not a low pressure cartridge; historically it was loaded to 53,000 cup/62,000 psi and the current Piezo CIP/SAAMI Pmax levels are 4300bar/62366psi.
I personally would have no issue with having a quality builder…who is also M98 Mauser knowledgeable…use the standard length action to build any of the modern 3.6” length cartridges. But I also make a concerted effort to stay below the CIP/SAAMI Pmax for reloaded cartridges being most interested in accuracy and truly have no desire to run reloads at 65K+ psi looking for ultimate velocity.
