GatehouseNew Hogue Stock arrived for Alaskan
My "replacement" Hogue Alaksan stock showed up, which was courteously supplied by Hogue as a few stocks had some flaw in it.
I took off the old stock, to check it out- Looks fine.
On a whim, I took the B&C regular ol'Carbelite stock off my Ruger 7RM, and tried it on the 375 barreled action. It would have needed a bit of hogging out of the barrel channel towards the front, but the action and the rear part of the barrel dropped right in..
I weighed it and it shaved off a pound. (With hogue stock and scope installed, weight was 9#, with B&C it was 8#)
Took half a dozen shots from offhand, squatting and kneeling, and it recoils a wee bit more, but not a huge issue..
I'm tempted to buy a Carbelite stock and bed it well, as I can have one here in 2 weeks, rather than a 5 month wait for a Macmillan, but...I'd probably always have a bit of doubt in the back of my mind that the stock would crack under the recoil, and it would happen on an important hunt.

Anyway, with B&C stock installed, it was a new rifle. Much handier, trimmer, faster to shoulder (did not catch on clothing) Just all around better handling hunting rifle, IMHO.

I put a B & C Stock (full alu bedding) on a mauser in .458WM, it cracked in the wrist after <30rnds. The same rifle has been in a Hogue since >500rnds FWIW

That is what I am afraid of...Although the full length bedding bloc k model isn't available for the Ruger...

Moose-HunterI got my replacement stock from Hogue about a week ago. Took about to week to get to my door. Plan on swapping the two stocks tomorrow before I take it out for more load development.

canamI wouldn't be to concerned about the B&C, if it is well bedded it will be fine.I've had a few 458 win's with them and a 416 taylor as well as a couple 375 taylors all were fine with the action bedded in place.

Was that the plain jane Carbelite models? No aluminum bedding block?

kitchenGatehouse,
B&C (at least up to a couple years ago) considers everything above .30-'06 a "magnum" requiring some additional work during manufacture. You can order direct. Actually, you probably have to. I've never seen any special magnum stock advertised.

GatehouseOn the B&C website, it has asteriks on some stocks (mostly Weatherby) indicating that a magnum stock is required. This stock has an intergral metal recoil lug...
Canam, is this what you used?
Honestly, I'm tempted to slap on a cheap Ramline or Ruger injection molded stock for the time being.
