Fiber optic sights and epoxy
Has anyone ever used a clear epoxy to create a protective layer around a fiber optic front sight? It's just a half-baked idea I had, but thought it might make it safe to use a fiber optic sight without the sight hood while hunting.

I have three guns currently and one prior that all had fiber-optic sights up front with no hood. I hunted heavy cover and never had one break; that doesn't mean they can't, but thus far they haven't. I always figured if the fibr optic tubes got broke that enough of the steel mount ring would be there to still use. I use my irons @ 50 yards and closer. The remaining parts should be fine for that.

Depends on the epoxy, but I have seen damage due to wrong glue on my LED-Sight - so be carefull. Some glues are not a problem, some could damage the fibre sight...
