value of weatherby markV 460wby?
Anyone know what a mark V deluxe in 460 is worth? It has a 26" tube with a integral muzzle brake (factory). Would the recoil with full power loads be similar to a 416 rem, as the 460 has a brake and a 416 would'nt?

thanks

In very good condition...about $2400. Don't know about the recoil compared to the 416 though. It should not be too harsh with the brake and the weight of the rifle.

The 460 weatherby with the brake is not brutal, but it is still a lot sharper than a 416. Lots more energy to make up for the recoil though.

That's about $1400 US...something's not right...either it's an older non California Piece or it's tired or something. Of course if it's the real deal and the guy want's it gone badly...?? He's asking half of replacement cost.

If thats the one on our Canadian forum its my old gun and in as new cond. It has a checkered bolt handle and jewelled follower. Its just a wicked deal, the gun is very accurate. For a 460 its a pussycat but still way more recoil than a 416. If I hadn't spent a ton just recently I'd buy it back.

I'm no Weatherby Fan, but confess to owning a .460 and I really like the cartridge just not the guns. MAKE SURE IT SHOOTS ACCURATELY! If it does, jump on it! 3/9 Weatherby's I've owned had major accuracy problems and got traded or sold. so I'm very leery of them.
Yes it has more recoil than a .416 Rem, but its really not bad at all and kinda fun!. You'll never see the fictious 2700fps in it though without extreem high pressure and bad juju signs!!-Rob

I had a custom 460 on a ruger#1 years ago, I was able to get a 500gr out at slightly better than 2600fps,I had a muzzle brake on it and the recoil was similar to the 458 win,I was just curious as to the recoil in the weatherby rifle.

If you decide to buy that 460 and want to trade it off I have a brand new still in the box never been shot 458 Lott Ruger Model 77 plus a box of 458 lott ammo and one box 458 win mag. Just a thought Smiler

Its good to see that its a good deal. I told the fellow that bought it that I saw it was getting air time here and he was impressed. I am sure I will be shooting this gun as soon as he figures out how to scope it and works out which bullets etc. to use. I will gladly report back a comparison on the recoil to my 416 Rigby.

Local shop has Jap one with Leupold scope for about $1500. I'm sure the price is very negotiable. Wink It got buch of little holes near the muzzle. I think it's called Pendelton? system.
