2019 DSC Big Bore Shoot
I don'r know why this hasn't been posted here, but anyway..the 2019 DSC Big bore Shoot will be held on May 4 at a new venue, the Fossil Pointe Sporting Grounds in Decatur, Texas (on Farm to Market 51). This is a fun event, usually quite a few interesting rifles and there is an opportunity to win a usually cheesy prize, but lunch is provided. The shoot consist of shooting for score at a buffalo target at 70 yards off of sticks, 30 yards off hand and 15 yards at a moving target. practice shots before shooting for score. Since it's a "big bore" shoot, .375 is minimum caliber (although .45-70, .450 Alaskan, .405 Win and .475 Turnbull are allowed for score). Membership in DSC is a requirement, but if you want to shoot you may sign up at the event (or contact Nate Watson at 972-980-9800 or nate@biggame.org). If you don't have a big bore, come anyway, I'll bring an extra .375 H & H and a .416 Rigby plus ammo. I'll also bring my .505 Gibbs Magnum for anyone feeling really tough.
I hope to see some of you there, feel free to PM with any questions.

mmmm, I have been looking for an excuse to try that range and a little practice before my exotic hunt in late May makes sense.

How many rounds needed for the competition?

Though I would bring a couple big bore doubles , how about my 1886 .45-90? It is a big bore and has taken ele and some buff.

The online announcement says 12 rounds needed for score, I always take quite a few extra. In the past, other .45 caliber lever actions were allowed for score, but only two shots for score on the moving target.
I hope a few AR members will attend, I look forward to meeting any that attend.
