YZM19:

I ordered a .450 Dakota from AHR. Wayne Jacobson has been a pleasure to deal with and they were right on time with everything. I ordered in the beginning of October of last year and I should have the gun tomorrow. That's really fast service for a custom rifle. He sent me pictures of the rifle and it is superb. If you PM me with your e-mail address, I'll send you a picture.

I had the pleasure of talking with and handling "Bitterroot's" rifles at the DSC convention. I would not hesitate to order a rifle from him today and I would have total confidence that I would receive a superior rifle.

Other gunsmiths are capable of delivering a high quality rifle but, I would expect to pay more and wait longer. Order now before his back log gets too long as his reputation grows! Wink

While I don't have a completely custom AHR rifle, Wayne has done some upgrades and customizing to my stock CZ. Like Dave, I have only praise for Wayne. Wayne is an excellent gunsmith and businessman as well as a master of the CZ rifle.

I noticed in another thread you mentioned an aftermarket trigger. AHR also makes one they can install for you.

In about five years, Ed and Wayne have built 5 rifles for me on the CZ and GMA actions. For large bore rifles; the stocking, metal work, and, braking systems are exceptional.

They are fair priced and the best of all, you receive the rifle in your lifetime.

They built two for me - a 585 AHR on a CZ action and 600OK on a GMA action. I couldn't be happier. Excellent work throughout, not a problem and both Ed and Wayne were true gentlemen and a pleasure to work with. Both rifles completed before the agreed upon delivery date - which was just a few months time at a more than fair price.

I bought a CZ 550.357H&H in December and had plans to get it customized and restocked with AHR's #3 upgrade. I went to the Dallas safari and met with Wayne, was very impressed with his work and committed to the project. I even got to pick out my own wood as Wayne had brought several blanks to the show. Looking forward to my new rifle and will post pictures when I receive it.

I had ordered a 375H&H and 416 Rigby from Dakota Arms at SCI 2008. They promised the guns in six months and after nine months could not give me a solid delivery date.

I then ordered a 416 Rigby and 505 Gibbs from Ryan Breeding, and after seeing and researching AHR ordered a 375H&H from Wayne. Upgraded the action to a Granite Mountain action (Which took approx three months for Wayne to receive) and Wayne promised my rifle in three months after receiving the action.

The price was very reasonable and having seen and handled the rifles at DSC, and talking with Wayne several times, was glad the Dakota deal fell through. The quality of Wayne's work and his quick response to e-mails and phone calls have made this a pleasururable experience vs the frustration dealing with Dakota Arms and their problems.

600 Overkill,

That is one nice gun. The stock is fantastic. I went with the dark wood but if I do it again I will probably go with the same tone as yours.
