<500 AHR>Ray,
What are the two locking mechanisms? Where are they located?
The Purdey underbolts slide into the two bites, double Purdey underbites ("notches"), in the chopper-lumps on the underside of the barrel flats, of a Merkel 140 for example, when the action is closed. These comprise the first two fasteners, along with the hinge pin of the action. Semantics.
The opening lever is linked to the underbolts to open the action when activated. It also retracts the Greener cross bolt thus releasing the third fastener, in the Merkel 140 for example, to allow the action to open.
