CZ 550 Mag in 416 Rigby worth?
CZ 550 Mag in 416 Rigby worth?
I searched the Classifieds but didn't see anything similar. On another board a guy is offering:
CZ 550 Safari Classic .416 Rigby
Fired less than 20 times.
Scope, Ammo and new leather strap included.
3 boxes of Hornady ammo
For $800
What's a good deal?
What's a great deal?
What's the deal that you would knock your grandmother over to get to?

MJinesFrank,
Sounds like a pretty good deal to me. The ammo is worth $150 to $200, depending on what kind of scope it is that could be another $200 - $300 just for a run of the mill scope.

Find out if it is the Euro stock model or the 550 American. What kind of scope is it? The Euro stock model is pretty light for a .416. I would buy it and then ship it off to Wayne at AHR and have him do the 1,2,3 treatment on it. At that price, it is a great donor action.

chuck375True and as RIP will tell you, it's an easy rebarrel to 500 Mbogo once the 416"s lack of recoil becomes annoying ...

The gun's got the American stock, kind of plain looking with the sling swivel on the forearm and some cheap 8x32x52mm "tacticool" scope. I think that the guy was trying to make a long range shooter out of it.
It's right handed and I'm a lefty so I wouldn't hunt DG with it, it would just be a fun gun to play with.

That's right!
You could wait a while for a used lefty.
Or spring for a southpaw rifle new.
They are available.
And a synthetic stock like this retrofit on a .416 Rigby CZ.
Cheaper to just get the synthetic to start with, rather than having to pay for and replace the wood later.
Thanks for the input guys.
My 375 H&H is enough for varmint hunting right now so the 416R will just be a toy. I won't be going back to Africa until 2011 so I have a little time.
I told the guy that I'm interested and I'll just see how badly he wants to sell it to me.
