I am leaning towards installing the Masterpiece Fully Adjustable Rear Sight on my upcoming 375 and Lott projects.
As most of you have fiqured out now I don't lean much to the classic side of things,lol.
That being said what are the opinions of using this sight?

I have used several of the NECG Masterpiece adjustable rear and am quite happy with them. I would recommend the NECG Masterpiece banded front, NOT the NECG Universal front.

I'm with 500 grains, I like the banded sight. But not sure what cal your going and what your going to use it for. If I was doing a short forearm English etc, I would do the banded and fixed rear, but if your doing a syn stock the adjustable is fine, either way its fine.

This is the windage adjustable version of the same Recknagel/NECG Classic sight factory installed on the M70 Safari Express. I'd suggest you shoulder a rifle w/ one and see if you like it. Also, Recknagel/NECG offers a replacement fixed height see thru fiber optic blade (skeletonized) that gives a good sight picture but doesn't block as much of the field of view as the adjustable blade.

They never responded to my email.

One rifle is a 375 H&H and the other is a 458 Lott. Both are being built with syn stocks and the sights are intended to be for backup if the scope ever fails. If I ever get into a situation of trailing something into the alders that can bite back the scope will come off first.

What is it that you don't like with the Universal?

I have the NECG rear and universal front on my 405 Mdl 1895. My CZ550 416Rigby (21" Bbl) has a Universal front ramp because I needed the elevation adjustment as I used the factory rear. On my Brno 602 ZKK 375 H&H (21" Bbl) the front on that rifle uses a NECG banded front as I didn't need the elevation. I use red fiber optics in all three. The NECG's are quality sights and I am having them installed on a 257Robts currently being built on a Mdl 70 (if I ever get the Blackburn bottom metal). I just prefer barrels to have sights on them, and to be of quality and usable.

The NECG Universal is not as sturdy as the Masterpiece. In particular, I do not like how the blades are held in on the Universal. I thought the blades were more likely to be inadvertently knocked out or lost with the Universal than the Masterpiece. Also, it is easier to change blades with the Masterpiece.

The NECG Masterpiece with fiber optic insert has poor visiblity. I brought one home the other day and now I can't find it anywhere.

The NECG Swievel stud also has low visiblity, I bought one and can't see it either if I hadnt of forgot to inlet the rear swivel stud I wouldnt have had to buy it in the first place .

Damn straight. Mine is sitting right next to the front sight and I can't see it either!

I hunt with a Whitworth that was put together from a barreled action by a friend of mine and had no sights. I had a masterpiece rear sight and a banded front sight installed, as well as a Talley barrel band sling swivel. The sights are very nice quality and look proper as well.

for you folks who bought the fixed blade sights. Do you just file down one side of the V notch at a time till you have it sighted in?
