Hope that the seller gives me a good description and some pic�s too,...but in the auction he says , that the inside of the barrels do have some "little" rust spots.

So i think now i need more than just the money for the gun..something like a big portion of luck maybe.







By the way: Is there anything special to look after , when buying such a gun?

I think no matter the brand is, every brand has goods and bads. Are there any bads known especialy with francotte doubles?

Francottes are good rifles. Definitely a step or two above the Merkel, Chapuis, Krieghoff class. Just make sure it is tight to the face, that the barrels are solid, no stock or wood cracks, all pieces are tight and that there are no pits inside the chamber or barrels. If the screws are mangled it is a sign that some schmuck has fiddled with it and you may want to have the insides looked at. A little wear is okay as you are not buying a new one.



If you have access to a gunmaker have it inspected first if possible.

Any rifle nut ought to prefer a .450 Nitro Express to a .470. Case diameter is less so a trimmer rifle can be made ...... breeches don't have to be as wide. And there is a much wider bullet variety for handloaders.

Don't be pressured to buy the rifle by his tactic above if you are not ready.

But in these circumstances I have found that unless the other party has paid a deposit, if you say, "I am ready and I can be at your place with the full cash in an hour." It opens doors again magically.
