Eland SlayerSako 85
Does anyone have experience with the new Sako 85 Safari or Sako 85 Kodiak? They claim to have a patent pending "controlled cartridge feed" system.

Todd WilliamsI have a new Sako 85 Bavarian in 270 Win. Haven't shot it much yet but just playing with it, I'm not so sure the "controlled cartridge feed" is exactly what I expected. It doesn't pick up the cartridge out of the magazine like a traditional CRF does. Unless there is something wrong with mine, it acts more like a push feed until you get the bolt pushed all the forward.
Once the bolt is pushed ALL the way forward, it grabs the round, without having to rotate the bolt, and yes it does control the case on the "back stroke" at this point.
It's a very nice rifle but in my opinion, not a true controlled feed system.

Todd WilliamsActually, I misstated the name of their system. I think Sako refers to it as "Round Control Feed" system.
