Will, I would suggest going to the double rifle forum here and doing a search about Sabattis. There were a lot of apparent quality control issues with them to the point that Cabela's has dropped them -- from what I understand.

Will, some of them were regulated by having the muzzles ground. Once the uproar caught Cabelas' and Sabatti's attention, I believe there have been few other issues.

I have three Sabatti double rifles. One 45-70 one 9.3-74 and one 470 Nitro.
THE 45-70 Came with a super trigger pull and hit right on target. The 9.3 has a good point on impact as well. The 470 hits about six inches hight at 50 foot and groups about four inches at the most from barrel to barrel.
One thing I do dislike about all is that they have a brass front sight. Also the recoil pads needs mto be of better quality.

I did in spect the muzzle on each one before I bought any and found no sign of grinding on any of the ones I bought. I was concerned at first about grouping but talked with a master double rifle gunsmith and was informed the ther barrels on a Sabatti could be reregulated for about $750 if needed and that the solder on the Sabatti barrels were soft solder and were no problem to fix. I have been told by a number of master gunsmite the barrels were very high quality to start with. I also was informed that doubles were best used with shooting sticks for best results on test firing.

I have open sights on both 45-70 and 470 but on the 9.3 I have a Triggocon scobe and on a double I sit the aiming point halfway between the point of impact between the barrel point of impact thus cutting the groupe between the barrels in half for scope use.

I have no respect at all for the importer in Fla. and who ever took a roto file to the muzzle of ANY gun should be hung by His b---s over a slow fire and roasted. I did find rifles that showed signs of grinding and would never buy one.

I find all three of my rifles two shoot well and have at this point had no problems. Before I bought the Sabatti rifles I did my own homework and after going thought the pros and cons and talking with a number of respects gunsmiths who know doubles I decided to buy my Sabattis. I as sais have had no problems thus far and for those who have any that are not hitting the way they should I can tell You where to get them reregulated at a very fair price.

I just had eye surgry so my typing is not the best sorry.
