700/577 - what is Westley Richards up to?
Westley RIchards website shows a 700/577 rimmed cartridge that pushes a 900 grain bullet at 2300 fps.

Does anyone know if they have made this gun yet?

HOLY COW! OH GEEZ! IT'S THE T.REX REINCARNATED AS A DOUBLE RIFLE CARTRIDGE!

That ought to be the ultimate stopper for those able to carry one all day and execute their flinch with sufficient accuracy.

This may be some real progress in new cartridges. At what cost? "Price: call for availability." If ya gotta ask it's too much, eh?

That thing looks suspiciously like a scaled up 404 Jeffery with a rim.

I can get the ammo at my local Walmart but I can't find a rifle in stock.

I imagine WR makes a nice weapon to go with that cartridge. I think . . . I'll take two

Let's think about this more carefully.

No one makes a 900 grain .585 bullet (that I have heard of). Woodleigh made one run of them only and does not want to make any more.

So WR must be having the bullets custom made in some secluded basement somewhere.

Or this is a concept cartridge that has not been built yet.

Sounds intriguing. If I win the lottery I think I shall order one.

500grains, you have not asked the obvious questions.

1.) If I shoot a moose in the shoulder with one will it knock the moose over?

2.) How big a hole will it make in a moose if I shoot the moose in the shoulder?

I apologize for the too proper english. Does WR post a price tag for a drop lock in this chambering?

WR posts no price for a gun of this cartridge or for the ammo. Their bargain basement plain jane guns start at $30K, so I have to believe that one of these will be triple that amount or more.

Need Just 1 More Gun
Has Overkill secretly engineered a takeover of Westley Richards, or taken over product development there?

I'm holding out for the .700/.600.

I know the next rifle will be perfect.......

Maybe WR needs to warn purchasers not fire such guns near a fault line in California or they may be liable for the resulting earthquake damage.

It has just as much power as a 577 T-rex... the t-rex shoot a 900 grain bullet at 2300 f/s.

Doesnt the woodleigh do 900 grain bullets any more......?

Woodleigh made 1 run of 900 grain soft nose and that was the end of it.

No more runs are planned.

Minimum run for a custom bullet is 5000 bullets.

Is there any buddy who make CAST bullets and in what weight...? what max velocity is possible to get with a 1200 grain cast bullet in the 577 T-REX..?

Wow!this brings back memories of the only cartridge designed for hunting game of any sort in my country, the .600/577 Rewa by the Maharaja (King) of Rewa. I'll wait, though, for someone to get any further information on this monster since I had a very bad experience some years ago when I wrote an article on guns for India Today plus - only two companies, Westley Richards and Perazzi sent rude replies telling me that they were not interested in giving any information to a writer from a country where the importation of guns was prohibited. If I M Claude works for Westley Richards now, he might still want to talk out of his hat to a "mere Indian" so please help if you can in getting WR to talk a little about this product. Thanks in advance to anyone who can post more information.

Sounds like the folks at WR and at H&H all need a good bonk on the head.
