After Forest called it the "wart on the nose..."

we addressed the safety on the new HEYM "Martini" rifle.
Here is the new safety that is in production.
Feel free to stop by and see it in Reno.

ozhunterLooks like a similar design to a 458 that I'm having built. In other words, real nice.

Hey "SPARTAN".
One in 404 would be "just the plan".

N E 450 No2Gentlemen, as most of you know I am a Double rifle kind of guy..
I hunted wild boar with the Heym Martini for 2 days after the DSC Show.
This is one of the the best handling bolt rifles I have ever touched.
It handles like a British Bolt rifle, which means it feels like a fine double rifle...
It will be avialable in 375 H&H, 404 Jeffery, 416 Rigby and 458 Lott...

DeweyWhen will these be available for sale?
Who in Canada will be a dealer, would Ralf and Mandy be among them?
What is the "ballpark" retail price on one of these rifles?

Dewey - The rifles are going into production now, and regular deliveries will begin in September.
As shown (with same grade of wood), they are selling for $9800.00 in the US. Engravings, case colors, etc... will add to the price of course.
You can get one from Ralf in Canada, but I don't know what taxes and duties are in Canada. Ralf, however, does and can give you a firm cost on that.
Also, the rifle comes with a lifetime warranty.

375 H&H
404 Jeffery
416 Rigby
458 Lott
Smaller cartridges would need a smaller action. This bolt diameter is .780"

eezridrChris,
Can you tell us the approximate weight and how the gun comes bedded? Pillar, glassed in? Is the barrel floated ahead of the front barrel lug?

JohnDLThat is one gorgeous rifle!
Heym has obviously come a long way in the wood department.
I have a 20 year old Heym .416. I've seen better wood to metal fit on garden implements than on that gun.

CORRECTION: I think I said the original safety a "big fat boil on the face of an otherwise beautiful girl." I also recall that I was not alone in that assessment.
The new safety certainly complements the beautiful girl that you and Ralf have assembled. That's a lot of rifle for less than $10K.

srtraxI remember that post and remember thinking the same thing that Forrest thought. Question: Will that safety fit a Mauser and can it be bought as an aftermarket unit? I really like the looks of it!

Sorry for the late reply. The bolt body diameter on the HEYM is .780", and it will not fit the standard '98 Mauser.

Mauser9,3x62Hallo New Guy, I am a Heym Fan from Germany. Have you more pics from the DSS show and the new Express. The rifle looks very fine. I think I would buy an Express in 416 Rigby next year.
Thank you and good luck in reno

DavidCnew_guy,
Can you give us the specifics about the Heym action?
How close does it follow the Mauser 98 etc....?
Never had the chance to see one in the flesh.
Best,
Dave

JabaliHunterIt looks like the Heym Express action but with a M70 style bolt shroud. If it is the same action, its very good news
A different rifle with the Heym bolt shroud is shown on their website
http://www.martiniandhagngunmakers.com/projects.htm
quote:
Recently completed the prototype of the HEYM/Martini Rifle. Ralf Martini of Martini Gunmakers LTD, Canada, was approached by Heym in 2008 to design a new stock for their proven “ Express rifle. “ The criteria was as follows 1) Slim 2) Trim 3) and in the shape and style of “best” pre-war English bolt action rifles.
This particular rifle shown is a .375 H&H. 404 Jeffery , .416 and. 458 Lott will also be regular production offerings.
This rifle features Heyms’ Magnum Mauser , controlled round feeding action with three position safety. The bolt handle is Martinis’ ’ Oberndorf style. The bottom metal is a one piece design with straddle floor plate, it holds four rounds of .375 H&H. Square bridges on receiver were milled in Martinis shop to mount Talley Quick detachable rings with the wide dove tail for the BRNO CZ 550. (19mm dovetails for more clamping power )
The HEYM/ Martini features banded rear sight base with one standing and one folding rear sight, barrel band to accept any Uncle Mikes style sling swivels and Martinis’ own banded front sight ramp. A square steel cross bolt was installed also where it counts, contacting the back of the recoil lug and the bottom of the receiver.
Classic British style stock made by Martini with ebony forend tip, steel grip cap and .800 recoil pad. Checkering 20 L.P.I pointed pattern, with wrap around on forend. Barrel length 24 “. Length of pull 14 3/8 “. Weight of this rifle 9 lbs without scope.

eezridrWhat is compelling about this thread is that Heym is listening to the customer base rather than trying to sell the customer base on what they want to offer.
They also have a excellent conduit in Chris as a channel to the market.
Kudo's to Chris for making them listen.
14 3/8 LOP; What a great idea. Easy to trim if required, not easy to extend a 13.5 without a UGLY spacer. Thinking ahead.
Nice lookin' shooting iron!
