Thank you

BaxterBThe long (30-06/338 etc) and 375 actions are identical length. The difference is on the 375 the load/ejection port is opened to the rear by 3/8 and the rear base holes are .330 versus .560(?? Going by memory on that one)

BiebsI know the rear scopemount holes are closer together on 375 and above calibers, as noted by BaxterB.

MADDOGSo I have a 30-06 m-70 that will fit my old stock from my 375H&H other than some fitting and bedding? Both Post 64’s both CRF feed?
And thank you all for information.

Correct, there was no magnum action, however the feed ramp on the pre64 M70 was also fairly radically worked on too to open up the standard length action for the 300H&H and 375H&H.

I think that would be straightforward. The barrel channel on the 375 will be larger of course.
Fitting bottom metal might be a little tricky - I remember on my 375, there was a thin wood spacer between the stock and the bottom metal. It wasn’t on my 06. Both were one-piece. Thr spacer waa probably a patch due to sloppy manufacture or something.

MileHighShooterWinchester made 2 actions, short-long and long-long. They used mag spacers to account for actual COAL. Short-longs are 3.1" and long-longs are 3.7".
I have long-longs with both screw hole spacings for "mag" and "regular" in both 375 length and 30-06 length cartridges. Doesn't seem to be much rhyme or reason for which guns they chose to make which way
