Who else would rather own an Enfield ?
Gents,
Am I nuts for rather having a custom rifle on a miltary action? Seems lots of folks posting would rather have a newer Remchester or C-Z or Ruger .
I personally would pass on 3 newer rifles to get at a Enfield poked in a gunstore or pawn shop's corner. Having looked over a lot of newer "Classics" from Remington or Winchester, they seem to be quite lacking in quality control for the times in which such is possible. With CNC machinery the manufacturers don't have to spend as much time going from bar stock or casting to finished product. Yet they spend (or seem to) spend far fewer hours finishing out the rifles.
Where then is the money we spend going? Certainly not in fit & finish. I ask then for them to lower the prices to the level of technology they are using,,,,,200 bucks for a rifle sounds fair to me [Razz] I have a rifle to load for now and it isn't a wsm or rum either. Sound off guys 45nut

I'm a big Mauser fan. I'd rather have a custom rifle, than a Remchester.

Nothing WRONG with your choice at all 45Nut. I cut my teeth on just such a rifle and it served me well indeed. A good gunsmith can customize it however you want and you'll have the fun of dictating how and what goes.

I think all of us were just trying to get you into the field with a good gun and minimum hassle. Now that you've made your choice, don't look back. Enjoy. [Smile]

That big enfield action makes for fine 505's etc.

I like mausers and enfields.

But the fact is that it is usally more expensive to start with a military mauser or enfield to build a custom gun than to start with a model 70 or CZ 550, due to the labor involved.
