Which grip cap for my CZ 550 (416 rigby)
Not sure which grip cap to use, been leaning toward a Jerry Fisher one screw. All I know about grip caps is whats in Brownells. Looks like my other choices are Dressels, Brownells and Dakota.

Dressles looks like is hangs down farther than the others, but is slightly larger than the rest and would be easy to fit and keep the lines of the stock that I want. This pattern has a large grip, which I like, what ever I use will use large cap.

Is there is something else I should consider, let me know. Here's a couple of pics if anybody want to throw there two cents in, Thanks, Billy

What about a Traditional Trap Grip Cap from NECG
It looks great I will post a picture of mine tomorrow.

Billy,

Here is what the Fisher looks like on my 416.

You might also be able to see that the checkering is a flat top pattern. Roger didn't like doing this, as he considers the sharp points on the checkering to be a sign of well done checkering, but I prefer the flat top style because it provides adequate grip without abrading the hand.

I also went with a non-fluted comb to match an original Jeffery that I have, but this was strictly for looks not function.

Looks like your project is coming along nicely .

Jim,

Thanks very much for the pic, nice rifle too. That gives me a better idea. Other than a 375 h&h I've had forever I'm only a yr or two into big bores, so there's much I don't know about them, but I'm learning.

Thanks, Billy

Andre,

I've seen those on NECG's site, about $165 if I remember correctly. This may sound like a dumb question, but what do you put in the magazine or could you put in it.

thanks, Billy

My grip cap was standard equiptment on my Heym express .500 Jeffery.
In the cap is a extra fireing pin and a extra front sight.
I have my monogram on it.

I will take a picture of tomorrow and post it.

You could do one like this from Roger Biesen:

Roger also does an all metal one (checkered or plain).

On a heavy rifle like yours, the Dressel may be preferable. It is machined much thicker and heavier than the Fisher, Brownell, Niedner or Biesen.

Your rifle is looking good. Be sure and post more pics as it progresses.

fla3006,

thanks, its comming along. I didn't do as good a job on the barrel channel as I should of, seems like the more I do the worse I get. I will post some more pics.

I may go with dressels, its the largest of all. I plan to order a grip cap next week sometime. I'm getting close to bedding the action, hope to get the barrel lug inletted tonight. maybe bed it the next night.

Thanks, Billy
