GrizzlyClausRe: 50 Alaskan
TJ,
McGowen is still doing the conversions. Price qouted to me over the phone was $700 to $800 plus my gun. Still not sure if I'll do this or not. Like the idea of a 50 and the penetration problems go away if you use Harolds bullets. 50 Cal armor piercing cut off to weigh 450 grs. from base of bullet to cut.

KevHI,
I have talk a little with PC and I have a MR.Dave Clay win 86 in a 50-110 and his work is great, would give a good look at him also. Kev
Beacuse of you guys I have put on lay away a 1886 win xtra lite for a 50-110 coversion.
I read above that Kodiak makes appropriate bullets for the .50 lever rifles where can these be had ??
It's a pity the Marlin won't take the 50-110 because it is easier on the eye than the 1886 win I reckon. Although Kev's gun looks great.
PC:
I just did a google search on Kodiak Bullets and several sites came up.

MauserPC-
I envy you my friend! You may want to use hardcast projectiles with your 50-110 Winchester and better yet use black powder if possible. Also, it takes a special rifle builder to convert the 86 extra lite into a 50-110 so you may not want a first time builder to experiment with your rifle. Good luck!

Mauser that worries me a bit and sense the rifle is coming from America at any rate maybe it should go to Wild West guns or DRC first I am not sure, then again the rifle might be just great in 45/70 as well apparently these 1886 extra lite repro's are very well made rifles.

MS HitmanI've been shooting a 50 Alaskan, but in a 15" T/C Encore. Got the 640 APIs up to 1785 fps recorded about 15 feet off the muzzle. The Barnes 450 FP original is showing some promise as well.
