Eland SlayerBarnes TSX in NE calibers
Has anyone here had experience hunting with Barnes TSX bullets in either 470 NE or 500 NE? If so, how did they perform?

Todd WilliamsYes, I used to shoot them in my Merkel 500NE. They were excellent performers in terms of both accuracy as well as terminals. I've been shooting the CEB and North Fork offerings of late however, but would have absolutely no issues with going back to the TSX.

chuck375Todd I shoot the 570g TSX at 2300 fps in my 500 Jeffery, I but haven't had the opportunity to shoot anything big and tough yet (just an elk and feral hog). How do you find their expansion/penetration at 500 NE velocities on cape buffalo?
Thanks!

K EvansI shoot them out of my .470 and used them on buffalo this past August, they are very accurate and performed well (one shot and down on the bull) but I shot only one buffalo with them. I use them in .375 and .416 Rigby as well with excellent results on several buffalo and large antelope.

Eland SlayerHow about the Barnes banded solids? Anyone using them?

I've used them in my 416 Rigby with great results on Elephant.

Steve 460I have used them in 470NE on several buffalo with excellent results, as has my wife. Also used the banded solids on an elephant in Zim, resulting in a one shot kill with a heart shot, plus the standard insurance shot once he wad down.

AtkinsonI have seen them used in most of the big bores and they always worked and recovered bullets looked like an advertisement for perfect expansion for the most part, and some had the flanges torn off but the results were the same, mostly buffao run 50 or 75 yards and die, rarely will one drop at the shot with any caliber or bullets with a proper shoulder shot, but it happens from time to time.
Its a good bullet. I have used the GS Customs, Northforks, and Woodleighs with equal success, and they are as good as bullets get. I have used Barnes also with success.
Another favorite buffalo bullet of mine in most any big bore is the North Fork cup point.
For elephant I like the GS customs flat point solid, and I like Woodleighs also. The Barnes has a great reputation.
