driverWhitworth 375 H&H, Parker Hale Afr. 458??
Hello,
Not for me, but acquaintance has opportunity to purchase these two NIB rifles and curious if are considered quality "working" DGR's?? Both have Mauser CRF type actions, not been modified and never fired. Value not really the question as to how functional they might be in African or Alaskan use in the future. Any thoughts on these two?? I owned a Whitworth some years ago and it was an OK rifle, 7Rem. Mag, but not at all familiar with the Parker Hale African???

vapodogat least the Whitworth is a worthy rifle.
I believe I read that the PH was a Spanish made action.....and I thought it was an FN.....does it say made in Belgium?

ramrod340I show the Parker Hale 1200 Super Mauser to be a Spanish action. I have never heard of a problem with a Parker Hale. I also don't know if Parker Hale made other bolt actions using other actions.
For my money I would take the Whitworth. Would do everything he wants up close and is a better longer range than the 458.
As usual just my $.02

jstevensAs far as I know the Parker Hale's were a Santa Barbara action, but they may not have all been.

driverHello,
Have since learned that the PH is model 82 African and fellow claims it is on Zastava mfg. action?? I thought that is the same action as the Whitworth. Wood is somewhat figured, in forearm, grip and butt are pretty much straight grained and schnabel forend. I believe the purchase will be made regardless, but appreciate the responses. Will pass them on. Thanks.

82 African
I've been wrong plenty of times before but I thought the 82 is the Parker Hale sniper rifle. I think it was the model 81 African. As to for sure who made the action I have no other info. Either a Spanish or Whitworth should be ok.

driverHello Ramrod 340
I stand corrected, the 82 is the sevice/mil/le version and the 81 is the sporting rifle. Both the Whitworth and the PH will be together this coming Saturaday so will know for sure then. Thanks for the info.
