Live OakI think I will just keep it
Bought this RSM in 416 Rigby as a donor to a 500 something. It's a keeper! Top left are 325 Barnes Xs, lower are 350 Speers, 125 yrds.

Damn! You keep just missing those quarters!!! :-) Seriously, there's nothing you can't do with a 416 Rigby anyway.

While the quarters seem safe enough, I think you have a keeper and Biebs (and Chief) have a point.

I made that mistake with a pre-64 Model 70 in .243 I bought in 1966 for $75.00, intending to make a match rifle with the action. Someone had rechambered it to .240 PSP (Page Souper Pooper). Years later, I formed some brass out of .244 Remington and took it to the range, only to discover that I could shoot a 1.5" five shot group with it at 300 meters. I still have the rifle, unaltered.

You will probably want to switch from the discontinued 325gn Barnes-X to the 350 grain TTSX. This latter bullet can be safely loaded to over 2800fps in every rifle I've loaded for (three CZs in 416Rigby) My current loading is 101.5 grains of R-17, a fairly compact powder easily fitting in the Rigby case with the long bullet. 2820fps (2800-2850) is the nominal velocity for my rifles.
An alternative to the Barnes is the GSC 330gn HV. Personally, I have avoided the 300-gn Barnes because the poorer BC doesn't keep up with the 350gn TTSX in punch and penetration up close, or wind resistence over 300 yards. Do the math on the trajectories. (For me, the 300gn .416" comes into its own in the smaller capacities of the 416Ruger or 416Rem, where the 300-grain bullet allows a 2800fps.)

That's not very hot for a modern Rigby with 325 gr X .
I push 300 gr TSX out of a 22" 416 Remington at over 2900 fps with a book load of Rl 15.
The Rigby holds alot more powder than the Remington.
Yup, I would say that's a keeper, as is!
