bulldog563375 North Fork Loads
Anybody have a good load for the 300 gr North Fork soft point in a 375 H&H? Will be used in Africa so do not want something super hot. Thanks.

vapodogNorth Fork recommends you start 8% low and work up and I've done that and every time I work to the same loads of a standard cup and core bullet.
You'll have to work up like everyone else buy may I recommend starting at 70 grains of either H or IMR-4350

500grainsI tried some out ahead of 65 grains of Reloader 15. But keep in mind that I do not like to load much above 2450 fps when shooting solids.

jstevensSomewhere around 67-68 grains of RL15 will get you 2500 fps with reasonable pressure. If RL15 doesn't shoot well, try 4064.

ErikDI've used 71 grains of Vihtavouri N550 to reach 2460 fps in a 25 inch barrel with the NF 300 grain soft point.
I've also used 77 grains of Vihtavouri N160 to reach 2500 fps in the same barrel.

Does this load require a filler?
I loaded 71 gr RX 15 in CX and the rifle shot under 1/2" @ 100 yards and shot 2600 fps. Shot cape buff with this load and it performed perfectly, mushroom was picture perfect and if memory serves me correct, it weighed 280 after penetrating on frontal shot with buff walking to me and was recovered in the back of the stomach.
Reduce this load by 10% when starting. The North Fork solid an d cup point shot to the same point of impact with the same accuracy.
the rifle is CZ, not cx. Brockman stock installed.
