Why is is that Nosler and CEB can market homogeneous solids for the 375 but Barnes can't?

Maybe has to do with the BATF initiative to ban AP pistol ammo (i.e. for use in the .375 JDJ)?

I know why Barnes stopped selling them but how do Nosler and CEB continue to do so?

All 3 are described as being made of solid brass alloy. Performance differences? Risk tolerance differences?

I've emailed Barnes and asked them how the other manufacturers can offer these.

I've often wondered the same thing. I recently spoke to a Barnes tech. representative and he told me they had to stop making the 375 solids due to ATF and the 375 JDJ. I wonder how many criminals are packing handguns in that caliber. Seems like another Obama era effort to harass gun owners.

Lehigh defense .500 Match Solid 350gr Bullets fit perfectly in .500 S&W. I pushed those 1850 fps out of 7.5" PC S&W revolver. (Here it is absolutely legal if hardness of the bullet or parts is under 250 BHN)

You know its ironic the ATF says they want them banned because of pistols but then turn around and approve that 7mm pistol that can fire a solid/fmj at 2000 fps that slips through body armor ...

This question has been raised before and it's a good one.

It seems the answer lies in this being an example of selective application of regulation by the ATF.

When it was first asked on this Forum, the primary players were Barnes and CEB. If I'm not mistaken, at the time, CEB was a new and very small company, likely flying below the ATF radar where Barnes had a much higher profile.

I hope this gets reversed as both the Barnes and CEB offerings are superb.

I'm thinking its a gubmint contract thing.

My CEB's have a small "dimple"-

Apparently enough to "qualify " as a "hollow point"
