machinistbutlercz 550 questions
I finally bought my cz 550 in 375 H&H.Seems to shoot very good with the sights provided but I will scope it for moose this fall. Some shots can get a little farther than I am willing to take with open sights. As well, with moose herded somewhat tight it is nice to know you are shooting at the bull. What type of mounts are available for it??The gun shop has the cz mounts and I am not sure if they are any good,I imagine they are..Another quick question. I loaded some 300 gr bullets with 4350.Velocities were like this at 76.5 grains I broke 2500 fps. From 77 to 78 grains did not get any increase in velocity,in fact some shots were lower than the 76.5 gr.I have never seen this before with my /06..Thanks for any suggestions..

HiWallNo increase in velocity with an increase in powder charges is a sure sign of overly high pressure. Three reloading manuals I have checked show max loads for IMR 4350 @ 75grs, max with H4350 goes to 81grs.
Depending on your rifle you may be way over max with those loads.

cducatRe scope mounts - stick with the CZ ones or use Talleys - CZs are much cheaper and work fine.

338winIf you have the cz bridge mount for your rifle it will be fine, although they are a weird design, but the normal two piece rings are absolute crap. Could not keep them on my cz 458 win.

machinistbutlerHIWALL: I did not experience any extraction problems at all,the primers were not flattened any more than at the starting powder charges..My speer manual states 78 gr as max for imr 4350,as does the Imr web site.It may be high pressure but no signs as far as I can tell..Kicks pretty nice though.I have not seen this velocity phenomenon before..Up to 76,5 gr the velocity went up steadily.Starting from 72 gr.
I have used the cz mounts on my .416 cz and now there sitting on my cz .375 H&H with no problems....you can use warnes and talleys but with variable leupolds and vertical split rings I have often encountered problems with the power selecter ring. The cz rings will work fine on the .375
