Hornady .475 and .510 softs and solids
How many people on this forum would be interested in .475 and .510 bullets by Hornady. Both softs and solids. Their nose shape generates better penetration compared to other solids of the same caliber and the availability would not present problems.

I certainly would be.

.474/.475 caliber 500 grainers suitable for 470 NE, 470 Capstick, and tough enough for the 470 Mbogo too: 2100 to 2500 fps MV.

.510 caliber 600 grainers suitable for 2100 to 2500 fps MV from the 500 A2, Jeffery and 500 NE.

That shouldn't be too much to ask.

As it is now, they make a .475" 400 grain handgun bullet and the 750 grain A-Max for the 50 BMG target shooters. Surely they could tool up for one more weight in each of these calibers they are already making.

Good idea.

470MBogo,
Yep, I'd sure like to see the .475 500 grainers! So far I don't have anything larger but I'm sure there's a market for the .510's as well. Count me in! Maybe we shoud get a petition together to send to them?

Not me, I would much rather see Speer expand the line of AGS solids to larger calibers. Hornady's steel jacketed solids don't impress me much.

I love Hornaday and would love to see a soft and solid of 500grs for the .475 and 570-600grs for the .510. Speer would be fine too as I would use them both. It seems rediculous for a bullet company to produce every popular caliber but 3or4. Why notjust make a line from start to finish, small to large. If I owned a bullet co.,I would.

The reason the major bullet makers don't do these is lack of sales, pure and simple. They only want to make what they can sell a jillion of! Put a petition together and send it to them, maybe it will jar them enough to at least consider a special run.

The major bullet and rifle makers are missing the boat on the current big bore craze in the U.S. Hornady needs to team up with CZ or Winchester to get some dangerous game .475 and .510 bolt guns made. They made a big mistake with the bastard 376 steyr and 450 marlin. Standardizing a wildcat would be the wise move.

I would rather see Swift bring out an A-Frame in 0.510" that could handle the 2400fps without blowing up.

I would love a Hornady 600 grain round nose soft point in .510". The Woodleighs work, but can be hard to come by at times.
