I e-mailed CZ about the 505 Gibbs. This was their reply.

"Yes, they should be available by "Shot Show 05". Price has not yet been
determined but should be in the same range." (As the other maguns)

This puts a whole new light on the 500 A-Square "pig slayer" project.

When is the shot show 05? Did you find out when we can order them? Yippee, just what I need. I am going to use it to test my new recoil pad setup, it consists of small replaceable capsules and an injection system. you put the morphine capsule into the top of the pad and then after the first shot you just don't care about recoil. :-)

Seriously that is great news, but if Bell is going out of business on these old rounds then who is going to furnish cases for it? This concerns me greatly, hope some intelligent, interprising company jumps on this one...

Try this link: http://www.shotshow.org/ This is a closed trade show and you have to be part of "the trade" to get in. If you know a smith that's going, though, it isn't that hard to get a ticket under his business. That's what I did. I didn't go last year but for a bait like that . . .

The only SHOT show I ever went to was in the early 90�s. It has anybody and everybody in the arms business. Back then I would imagine that the Remington and Browning booths alone covered 1000 to 1500 square feet each. It is usually in January or February. Like Sarge said it is somewhat restricted. If you know someone with a gun store they can get tickets though. The top Gun and Archery manufacturers have some pretty extravagant booths. It is worth seeing at least once in you life. It took us two full days to see every thing.

What about brass from A-Square? I would have to think 40 or so pieces would last most of my life. You are 100% right about waiting to buy a used one. Who knows I may cut you a deal on one by March or April

Y'know, I asked about the .450 Rigby years ago when it first came out and I had to end up buildin' the first one on the West Coast (for sale beginnin' the 18th when I get back). Those stubborn mitteleuropans couldn't figure out what I was talkin' about. Just goes to show that being ahead of yer time is as bad as bein' behind. Hmmmpf!

Oh, it's finished to the degree that it's eminently huntable. I know, I took a 40" buff with it in '00. It would, however, look better with a new stock but if I'm going to convert a Pedersoli it would be throwing good money after bad to restock the Rigby since I'm going to take a bath on what I spent on it anyway. Cuttin' yer losses, I believe the phrase goes. And I do so want that Ped . . . . . . .
