Why aren't you keeping the 458? To my eye it looks to be a good functional rifle. I wouldn't pass it on if it were mine.

Moose-HunterWhy no keep? You need to chop off a few inches of that barrel and upgrade the open sights, and barrel band.

NHbwanaGreat looking rifle. I actually just ordered one to replace my CZ. Can't wait to get my grubby paws on it. I'm going to be setting mine up with a peep, a scout scope, and replacing the front sight with a gold bead. After that I'm just going to shoot the crap out of it. I too am curious why your passing it along.

luv2safariAfter sending off payment for another rifle the other day, I was called by UC Davis Cancer Center to get down there this Thursday. It won't be for free...
I have a Rem 721 30-06 and a Wby MK V matt finish in a B&C camo stock with an extra Wby factory walnut stock for sale, too.
I ran out of double rifles and drillings to sell last year about this time...went to the same place, but I'm looking at grass from the top, down.

luv2safariI'm guessing 9 1/2 pounds, scoped, and the recoil is not an issue. It seems to have a well designed stock in that respect. It shoots a lot softer than the light Savage SS/SYN 375 I just got. My 416's were a lot more punishing, even the RSMs with their weight.
458 Win has never seemed a real heavy recoil round. IMO.

RogerAnybody get me a left-handed 798,458, just like the one pictured, I'll gladly trade a brand new left-handed Ruger Hawkeye in 375 Ruger for it.

Steffenhow is the safety on that rifle?
at my local gun store they had a .30-06 (the original, not remington)and it felt very rough and hard.
do you think(or tried) its possible to smoothing it up?
i've been thinking of getting one in .375H&H

I've got a older Zastava - the action & rifles are marketed with the "Luger" name here in Germany.
Originally pretty rough, but yes; if you know what you are about - they can be slicked up to become a very servicable & accurate rifle without too much elbow grease.
