Venture South450 No2 Musket Dies and Cases
Good Morning Gents
My father in law would like to reload for his 450 No2 Musket.
Can you suggest a supplier of quality dies and cases?
Kind regards
Ian

bpesteveHello Ian,
One good source of No.2 Musket brass in the USA is a fellow who goes by the moniker "PommyB" on the British Militaria Forum. See his post
HEREBe sure to scroll down through the post to see his caliber listing and contact info.
I have gotten brass for several oldies from him and he is great to deal with, although how one could get his brass to southern Africa is another good question.
He also may know of a source of dies, but I'm guessing that you won't need to full-length size, so you may be able to get away with cutting down a set of .45-70 or .458-something to neck size and seat.
Buffalo Arms here in the USA does list 500/450 No.2 Musket dies from CH-4D on their web site
HERE as in stock at $216.29 as well as Bertram brass
HERE at $109.48 for 20.
Best of luck, it's a great cartridge!

50-90 Sharps brass is easy to convert to #2 musket, just needs to be necked down with size die and shortened a bit. Starline makes the brass, cheaper and better quality than Bertrum.

50 CalshtrI'll second the CH-4D/Starline brass option. This combination works very well in my rifle and the brass is the best I've seen available for forming this caliber .

As always the collective knowledge of AR members come through.
Thank you all for your assistance, it is greatly appreciated.
I a not yet sure of how I will get them to SA, but I am sure I can figure it out somehow.
Thank you for your help. My Father in Law just went through open heart surgery so anything to keep his chin up will be great right now.
Have a great day
Ian
