500 NE reloading data
Looking at the accurate reloading data and found no loads for the 500 NE, found myself wondering why there hasn't been any data entered for that and several other of the old british doubles on this web sight - please fill me in.

The AR data are loads that Saeed has been involved in testing.

Apparently, he has not had the opportunity to play with a .500NE.

114g of H4831 with the 570 Woodleigh works well. Near 100% load density. Goes about 2050fps with low pressure.

And this load will rattle your teeth in some guns. Try RL 15, 92-96 grs. This is much easier on the shoulder and gives velocities in the 2050-2125 range, very consistant velocities. I use 1/2 of a Kynoch #2 or #3 foam wad for filler.

Norma 203B start at 85grns.

MRP2 give a better loading density but you may have more difficulty getting the rifle to regulate nicely.

My 24" barrel Heyms regulate best with 95 gr. RL 15 with Woodleigh 570 grain soft and foam wad yielding 2130 FPS. I use 1 grain less with Woodleigh solids. Gets the job done.

Zigfreed, My 500 NE uses a charge of 103 gns of H-4350 under 570 gn Barnes banded solid & TSX soft, from 24" barrels they regulate perfectly @ 2168 fps. The H-4350 is extremely stable in my rifle. Also I use a strong roll crimp, and crimp the TSX in the second from the top groove. These loads shoot 2" @50 yds off sticks when I do my part. Penetration test in my bullet box {dry phonebooks with cow leg bones stacked tight in a rope wrapped cardboard box} is excellent. Should make a real nice hammer for buffalo, Good Luck.
