fredj338A distant friend I went to africa w/ a few years ago has one. He only shot some factory ammo out of it so I can't help you w/ loading. It is basically a .416rem on a std. action (.416Taylor) I don't think it uses the .416dia. bullet, but a .411. Bullet selection will be very limited unless you size down .416s.

'Back in the day', .411 caliber cartridges were more popular than .416 caliber cartridges. Bullet availability in .411 was better, so that's what they used. You can use 416 Taylor load data for this cartidge.

BFaucettA little trivia question for the day:
What does KDF stand for?
Answer: Kleingunther Distinctive Firearms. Founded by Robert Kleingunther who once worked for Weatherby. The .411 KDF and the KDF muzzle brake were two of KDF's creations. I don't know if Mr. Kleingunther is still alive or not but KDF is still in business in Sequin, Texas. The .411 KDF is very similar to the .416 Taylor. It's basically a 2.5" belted magnum case with a .411" bullet. (Feel free to correct me if I'm incorrect on any of this. I'm just going from memory.)

fredj338Mac, I know Woodleigh & Hawk make bullets & Barnes used to, but it's not like you can walk into a gun shop in most towns & find them. I know, I have the same problem w/ the .404 but then again, we have the internet.

I just thought the poster would like to know it's not a .416.
BTW, you said many other makers, who? Maybe they make .423s as well?
